Abstract

The history of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS)and its treatment begins in 1913,when Marie and Fox [1], after an autopsy of a patient having bilateral atrophy of the thenar muscles, recommended, in such cases, a surgical treatment of nerve decompression dissecting the transverse ligament. In 1930, Learmonth [2]described the first case of surgical release of TCS. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
