Abstract

UK Air Monitoring Network data were analysed using geostatistical approaches. Data were derived from the UK Nitrogen Dioxide Diffusion Tube Network which provides monthly averages of NO2 concentrations. The monthly averages were interpolated using ordinary kriging (OK) and indicator kriging (IK) to estimate unknown NO2 concentration (in ppb) over the UK on a 1 km by 1 km grid. In addition, IK was used to predict spatially the probability of exceeding an arbitrary threshold of 30 ppb. The paper demonstrates that IK is potentially a suitable technique for the analysis of UKAMN NO2 concentrations.
