Cardiac point of care ultrasound in the CCU

Abstract

Point-of-care cardiac ultrasound (POCUS) is becoming more commonly used in the assessment of patients as an adjunct to the physical examination, particu- larly in critically ill patients. Improving technology has made these devices smaller and portable with improved ease of use by cardiologists, as well as critical care and emergency room physicians. The use of cardiac POCUS can improve diagnostic accuracy and provide valuable diagnostic information that can significantly impact medical management.
