Abstract

Volume 3 of this second edition of the Encyclopedia of Entomology covers the letters L-R and is the third of four volumes providing a broad overview of insects and their close relatives, focussing on major taxa of insects, their near relatives and other insect groups; morphology and anatomy; physiology; genetics; behaviour; ecology and evolution; microbiology and pathology; humans and insects; notable and pioneering entomologists; pest management; pesticides and pesticide application; pest groups and their management; medical and veterinary entomology; and arthropods of economic importance. Explanations of some common terms and detailed descriptions of insects and subjects have been provided by distinguished entomologists from around the world. Material has been referenced providing a link to entomological literature.
