Abstract

Intro: Fission-fusion grouping means that individuals leave and join others according to their own decisions. It occurs in all chimpanzee populations as well as many other animals, including primates, cetaceans, carnivores, and ungulates. In chimpanzees, temporary associations ("parties") may last from a few minutes to several days.....
