Abstract

Eddy current inspection techniques are based upon the principal of electromagnetic induction. By placing an alternating current source near a ferrous or non-ferrous material, eddy currents are induced in the material. Should a defect be present in the material, the path of the eddy current flow is disturbed, with the consequent effect of an alteration in the characteristics of the re-transmitted electromagnetic energy.
