Defining the proper scope and concern of enterprise architecture, understanding the difference between models and diagrams, specifying the types of models that should be created—these are all useful things, but they don’t tell us much about how to model an enterprise architecture. This chapter describes how to combine these elements into a functional, manageable architecture that senior leaders can use to guide the enterprise and make progress toward achieving its goals.
