Abstract

The news has been abuzz with coverage of teen bullying, as well as tragic bullyingrelated suicides (coined “bullycides”), for several years. This media attention escalated in January 2010, when 15-year-old Phoebe Prince took her own life as a result of relentless torment from her peers (Melnick, 2010), and continues with the recent story of 15-year-old Bart Palosz, who shot himself in August 2013 after enduring years of physical and verbal harassment at school (Hussey & Leland, 2013).
