This case study presents an integrated, collaborative and multi-use climate change adaptation project in the Netherlands: the “Oekense Beek”. The aim of this chapter is to illustrate the challenges of such a project in a context where the cooperation with private landowners and users is mainly based on a voluntary approach. Governmental authorities have several policy instruments at their disposal that may help them find “agreements” with private landowners.
