Abstract

General Imaging Findings Atrophy of midbrain and superior cerebellar peduncle • Morning glory sign-concave lateral margin of tegmentum on axial MRI • Hummingbird/penguin sign-atrophy of mid-brain on midsagittal MRI forming the silhouette of a penguin or hummingbird CT non-contrast-enhanced • Atrophy of midbrain and superior cerebellar peduncle with consecutive enlargement of interpeduncular cistern, aqueduct, and third ventricle CT contrast-enhanced • No pathological enhancement MRI-T2/FLAIR (Fig. 35.1a, b, e) • Atrophy of midbrain and superior cerebellar peduncle-morning glory sign, hummingbird sign/penguin sign • Hypointensity of putamen (iron deposition) MRI-T1 (Fig. 35.1c) • Atrophy of midbrain and superior cerebellar peduncle-morning glory sign, hummingbird sign/penguin sign MRI-T1 contrast-enhanced • No pathological enhancement MRI-T2 * /SWI (Fig. 35.1d) • Hypointensity of putamen (iron deposition)
