Abstract

Elderly is someone who reaches the age of 60 years and over, based on Law No. 13 of 1998 concerning Elderly Welfare. According to the Center for Data and Information, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2016 there are 22.6 million elderly people in Indonesia out of 255.5 million population. The most common disease in the elderly based on the 2013 Basic Health Research is hypertension. Hypertension is a degenerative disease that affects nearly 25% of the world's adult population (Adrogué & Madias, 2007). Hypertension is a major cause of morality and morbidity in Indonesia. In the ten most cases of disease in September 2020 to November 2020 Puskesmas Campang Raya, Bandar Lampung City, hypertension took the first position in patients for medical visits to puskesmas. Increasing public awareness of hypertension and modifying lifestyle as recommended can prevent hypertension, and succeed in reducing mortality due to hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
