Abstract

Different forms of silence exist. The article draws attention to the dynamic process of silencing that takes place within discourse which is a constituting feature of any text. Although silence is elusive, the article outlines three different techniques that can help researchers within the social sciences to uncover glimpses of silence: comparative discourse analysis, deconstruction and memory work.
