Abstract

Enteral self-expandable metal stents are used to palliate malignant gastroduodenal obstruction and occasionally used in treating benign postsurgical anastomotic strictures. A variety of covered and uncovered stents with flexible and long-length delivery systems that allow through-the-scope and over-the-wire delivery are available worldwide. In this chapter, an overview of the available enteric self-expandable metallic stents (SEMS) including general characteristics and specific features will be provided.
