Abstract

Advanced wound healing options for DFUs are emerging and evolving regularly. However, while the array of advanced wound healing options for DFUs is plentiful, patient specific needs can always guide therapy. It is important to utilize evidence based medicine and effective treatment algorithms for the most predictable results. While all advanced wound healing modalities are unique and have individual guidelines, risks, and benefits, the underlying goal consistently remains to heal the wounds, prevent new ulcerations, reduce amputations, decrease mortality, and preserve both limb salvage and quality of life.
