Abstract

In the analysis presented here we consider the focus thickness which was not accounted for in the Brune's model adopted in previous considerations. The thickness of foci was estimated on the basis of shear-band model. The focal parameters determined for this model were related to the cracks and crevasses observed on the glacier. An analysis covered icequakes recorded on the Hans Glacier. A comparison was made of the parameters calculated in terms of the shear-band model for icequakes and tectonic earthquakes occurring in the direct vicinity of the Hornsund station. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
