An introduction to automatic video surveillance

Abstract

We present a brief summary of the elements in an automatic video surveillance system, from imaging system to metadata. Surveillance system architectures are described, followed by the steps in video analysis, from preprocessing to object detection, tracking, classification and behaviour analysis. © 2009 Springer London.
