Abstract

Hydropriming techniques were optimized for vigour enhancement in fine and coarse rice (Oryza sativa L.) types by evaluating the germination and seedling vigour. For hydropriming, seeds were soaked for 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 h in aerated tap water. All the seed treatments resulted in vigour enhancement in both rice types except seeds hydroprimed for 60 h. Maximum vigour enhancement as indicated by high germination and seedling vigour was noted in seeds hydroprimed for 48 h which was followed by that of 36 h in both rice types.
