Abstract

Talking about sexuality, especially one's own sexuality-not to mention one's own problematic sexuality-is difficult for most people and can trigger feelings of anxiety, shame, or guilt. Many don't have the words and concepts. The first module accordingly serves to communicate fundamental information on concepts relevant to treatment and to develop through this a common language and shared basic knowledge. This is of particular importance, as participants may display widely differing degrees of familiarity with the topics of sexuality, sexual preference, potential risk factors for sexually abusive behavior (e.g., child sexual abuse or the use of CSAI), and treatment options. The module should thus precede and prepare the content of the actual therapy.
