Abstract

With the increasing availability of digital stored video and the development of new multimedia broadcasting services, security questions have become ever more urgent. The acceptance of new services depends on whether suitable techniques for the protection of the video producers' interests are available. This article describes two major security demands in a digital marketplace: copyright protection and Try&Buy transactions. We want to give an introduction to these security problems and present a technical approach to the transparent encryption of MPEG-2 Video. It is an enabling technology for the trading of MPEG-encoded Video in order to make the digital market place more attractive.
