Abstract

The introduction sets up the theoretical framework for this volume by reviewing the up-to-date scholarship on the impact of digital technology on journalism. It argues that the focus of our examination should be shifted from merely considering what impact digital technology has had on journalism to understanding how the changes have happened in response to the joint forces of digital technology and society in the whole process. It values the importance of drawing on experiences collected from different social settings and taking an international comparative perspective. This introduction also outlines the structure of the volume.
