Abstract

The sensor networks comprise of mobile and static sensor nodes always named as hybrid sensor network, which set up for the purpose of collaboratively tasks like sensing a phenomenon. Sensor deployment is an important problem in the hybrid wireless sensor networks, which affects the performance and lifetime of the networks. This paper presents a distributed deployment algorithm for mobile sensors. The algorithm is compared with a simulated annealing based algorithm for deployment with the metrics such as coverage, uniformity, time and distance and the Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
