Abstract

The authors present commentary on research presented elsewhere in the issue by J. Dew and W.B. Wilcox on marital and parenting relationships, the transition to motherhood, and the interconnectedness of individual and family lives. The authors express concerns about details and complexities of the research that they say were blurred. Such areas included definition of the study sample, key constructs and their measurements, and statistical evaluations of change processes. Each of the 3 areas is elaborated upon and the authors call for a more nuanced evaluation of the topic investigated.
