Abstract

Effective communication within the network is an important characteristic for a wireless network. A model with a combination of wireless sensor network and Adhoc network i,e Performance Comparison of Protocols for Firefighters (PCPFF) for fire rescue operation is proposed. This provides an effective interaction between the nodes to save the firefighters when they are in distress or when there is no lifeline. The model helps in effective area coverage by indicating the path that is already been used and provides a reliable lifeline to firefighters. It is observed that the performance of Adhoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is better when compared to Ad Hoc On-demand Multipath Distance-Vector Protocol (AOMDV) and Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector Routing (DSDV). © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
