Abstract

This chapter focuses on job and career opportunities in Regulatory Affairs/Science in the biopharmaceutical industry, with some additional information on possible options in related industries and regulatory authorities. As an introduction, the terms ‘Regulatory Science’ and ‘Regulatory Affairs’ are clarified. The core of the chapter is dedicated to regulatory functions in the biopharmaceutical industry, with topics such as the purpose of Regulatory Affairs/Science, the international context, roles and responsibilities of Regulatory Affairs/Science professionals and job opportunities. Then follows a brief description of regulatory functions within regulatory authorities. The next part is devoted to requirements for a successful career in Regulatory Affairs/Science, with topics such as wanted qualifications, personal skills and experience. The chapter ends with some reflections on career perspectives and closes with a short conclusion.
