Handling Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence, and the Bayesian Controversy

Abstract

This paper shows how the problem of handling uncertainty in expert systems led to the development of the theory of Bayesian networks. It then examines the implications of Bayesian networks for the Bayesian controversy.
