Abstract

As part of the development of aclimatology of thunderstorm duration for the U.S.A., frequency distributions of thunderstorm durations at 36 stations over a 30 year period were analysed. The incomplete gamma function fitted observation closely and was useful for specifying for any station the probability of storms with a selected range of durations.
