Abstract

The earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 hit Shichuan Province on, 12 May 2008. It caused extensive damage to buildings and public facilities, including road, railway and the airport etc. The damage of transportation system and facilities became one of the key problems to support emergency response and recovery efforts. The damage situation of road, bridge and tunnel will be summarized based on site survey, as well as remote sensing technology, from which lessons can be learnt in post earthquake transportation system construction especially for highway, bridge and tunnel. The emergency response and recovery of the system will also be presented base on the concept of system dynamic mechanism.
