The present study tackles the issue of training in pedagogical standards, from the perspective of Pedagogy students from five faculties of the University of Playa Ancha, Chile. It is an institutional case study, with a mixed design. At first, 78.3 percent of the Pedagogy student population participated, answering a predesigned questionnaire and, later, 13 representatives from Basic Education; and History and Geography joined a series of focus groups. The results reveal that the students asses their training from sufficient to good. There are statistically significant differences between faculties in 6 of the 10 standards. We concluded that the transversal presence of the standards in the training project during the career and the practice workshops can have a favorable influence on the training of students, whereas the lack of common guidelines between academic units results in different levels of training, a situation that must be taken into further consideration by the institution
