Abstract

Low-frequency oscillation is an important problem in modern power systems, the system monitoring and realtime analysis operation are the most basic and important part of the system stability. This paper introduces the main issues of the detection of power system lowfrequency oscillation and the fundamental principles of particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. Point out the lack of the ordinary signal analysis methods in low-frequency oscillations detection, and discuss the feasibility of using the PSO algorithm to detect low-frequency oscillation in power system.
