Konsumen semakin selektif dan memiliki harapan besar terhadap produk yang akan dipakai atau dibelinya. Sehingga, setiap pemilik produk saling bersaing dan berlomba untuk memenuhi harapan, keinginan, dan kebutuhan konsumen. Salah satu strategi yang dilakukan oleh para pemilik modal adalah dengan mendesain produk mereka semenarik, seunik, dan sekreatif mungkin. Sebuah produk yang memiliki desain yang unik, menarik, dan memiliki daya tarik akan membuat produk tersebut memiliki nilai jual lebih, dibanding produk sejenis lainnya. Jika sebuah produk mampu membuat konsumen melakukan tindakan pembelian, maka produk tersebut dapat dikatakan mampu memenuhi kebutuhan, keinginan, dan harapan konsumen, serta mampu mendukung pencapaian tujuan pemilik produk, yaitu mencapai tingkat penjualan yang tinggi guna mencapai maksimal profit. Itulah sebabnya para pemilik produk berupaya semaksimal mungkin mengerahkan seluruh kemampuan dan kreatifitasnya guna menanpilkan produk dengan desain yang sangat unik, menarik, serta memiliki keunggulan dan daya saing, agar produk mereka mampu memiliki tempat dihati konsumen. Desain produk yang mampu memikat hati konsumen dan memiliki nilai jual adalah desain produk yang Playability, Simplicity, dan Practiced Skill.
