Abstract

This chapter presents a mobile application (mhealth) for the remote management of heart failure patients. It is based on data acquisition from a commercial (ClearSight System—Edwards Lifesciences®) non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring device. If a problem is detected, physicians and/or hospitals will be alerted immediately by the system for the exact problem. Its main purpose is to be used outside of intensive care units which to date is the main area where heart failure patients are monitored. Since the intensive care units and even the hospitals in general, are overloaded the need of decongestion has arisen. With this application, the heart failure patients wcan be monitored in many cases, even at home. This obviously offers a great relief in hospitals and consequently significant savings to the economy.
