Abstract

Digitization offers many untapped opportunities for better matching young people’ career options and their interests and capabilities. The collaborative creation of media rich job profile documentations can be a very important tool. In a pilot project, a collaborative digital storytelling toolchain has been developed based on Open-Source technologies and customized for non-expert users. The added value of a toolchain media environment developed jointly by computer science, social sciences and schools for the production of technically evaluated digital storytelling formats resulted from known advantages of simulated “learning by doing” compared to conventional teaching and learning methods: experiencing and acting in virtual (professional) realities enables immersion, i.e. a deep and emotional experience.
