Abstract

Multilectics is a research methodology that joins multiple perspectives, lenses, meanings and voices with dialectical thinking. In this article, I apply multilectics and its methods to my research in a middle school classroom that serves poor urban students of color. I use multiple methods of analysis and of representation to understand and convey what is taking place there. I suggest that if we apply multilectical approaches to education rather than the narrow and monophonic approach that is currently dominant, we will have greater possibilities of successfully serving our most underserved youth.
