Abstract

This article seeks to examine if there are significant differences in the strategic management processes that may identify positive or negative conditions for improving these processes. A survey is carried out in the context of HEIs in Ibero-American countries, and focusing on the concern with strategic planning, this study analyses how the nature of strategising in universities interacts with the governance- level policies of the higher education system and a particular modelling of the strategy process. Therefore, a critical examination of the strategy modelling in different countries is addressed, highlighting how particular experiences might be instructive for better strategising in universities.
