Abstract

Agriculture is a fundamental economic activity but implies a large consumption of water; in Mexico, the habanero pepper (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) is one of the main agricultural products. This work presents the design of a Sugeno based fuzzy controller with 18 if-then rules for an irrigation system that allows irrigation to be managed in a sustainable manner, reducing the loss of water giving habanero pepper plants a favorable environment for their growth. The controller consists of a set of rules designed to activate or deactivate the irrigation system based on four input variables.
