Abstract

Seeding rates of 50-150 kg/ha for Zephyr barley were compared in a series of 8 trials spread over a 4-year period. In each trial, yield components such as number of heads per plant, number of grains per head, and individual grain weight declined with seeding rate. Nevertheless, with higher rates there were continuing increases in grain yield. However, allowing for seed costs, 75-100 kg/ha of barley was the most economic seeding rate used. © 1988 Taylor … Francis Group, LLC.
