Abstract

A female Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) was flushed from a nest in a large Black Cottonwood (Populus balsamifera ssp. trichocarpa) tree near Creston, British Columbia. The nest contained five Mallard eggs and one Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) egg. The female deserted soon after the nest was discovered.
