Abstract

Paroxysmal hemicrania (PH) is a rare headache disorder in children and adolescents, though the true prevalence is not known. A small number of children are reported in case series, and hence a definitive characterisation of the clinical disorder can be difficult to establish. However, from the available data and published literature, it seems that PH in children may have similar clinical course as that of adult patients but probably less recognised and suboptimally managed in clinical practice. This case study serves to highlight the main clinical issues in making the diagnosis and offering treatment.
