Abstract

This volume seeks to address two interrelated questions: 1) What do the major states of Asia view as the emerging challenges in their security environment? 2) What future security outcomes would make them believe that strategic stability had been achieved in the Asian continent? To answer these questions, the various chapters look at the domestic, regional, and Asian level issues that shape the security debates in various countries. While the level of analysis in each chapter varies due to the differing insecurity dilemmas in each country, one issue that is important to each nation is the rise of China and its future relationship with the United States.
