Abstract

The structure and composition of the natural tooth and its supporting tissues are described, together with changes which take place with age and disease. The operating conditions in which the teeth and the jaws function are described and restorations by different types of fillings, crowns and bridges and partial dentures discussed. The use of FESA is discussed and the problems encountered in producing satisfactory moulds. The mechanical properties of natural and artificial restorative materials are described. Some applications to orthodontics and restored teeth are described.
