Chapter 2 lays out the key theoretical concerns that the book engages with to greater or lesser degrees. The ideas outlined are picked up in later chapters, but this chapter discusses the usefulness of different theories in developing a spatial methodology. It introduces the overarching framework for this book: gestalt theory. The chapter argues that, by using gestalt theory's rules of perception, a greater understanding of sensory perception and embodiment can be achieved.
