Hong Kong and Singapore are two Asian cities that have often been compared in terms of their urban development. Hong Kong and Singapore have the highest urban densities in the world. They are also distinguished by their high-rise housing developments and expanding tradition of high-rise living. Living in super tall residential buildings of 60 or more storeys high is increasingly quite common in Hong Kong. Although the tallest residential building is presently 40-storey, Singapore is building 50-to 70-storey housing in its city centre. This book seeks to examine the high-rise living experience of Hong Kong and Singapore. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
