Abstract

The hydration structure of tetraalkylammonium chloride (Et4NCl) in aqueous solution has been studied by Raman Spectroscopy as functions of pressure and concentration. The hydration volume due to the hydrophobic hydration around trans-trans. trans-trans (tt.tt) conformer is larger than that around trans-gauche. trans-gauche (tg.tg) conformer. The hydration structures are closely correlated to the conformational equilibrium in the solution. © 2008 IOP Publishing Ltd.
