Abstract

Grid Service Mining (GSM) is a user-oriented computing paradigm adopting the service-oriented architecture, in which users can expediently customize their computing tasks. Grid Service Deployment (GSD) is useful to deal with the growing complexity of interactions and diversity of co-ordinations between the transient and stateful grid services in GSM. Despite much work on the deployment process itself, the effect of GSD is not given much attention, especially from theoretical aspects. Hereby, in this paper we present a formal model for GSD in order to analyze dynamics of the GSM system in a consistent way. Four types of installation strategies are defined to determine how grid services of the same family are installed. Grid service compatibility is introduced to address issues of the safe and successful configuration of GSM system. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.
