Abstract

This chapter focuses on the development of social work education and training in Botswana. It commences by exploring the historical evolution of social work education and training in the country, before unpacking issues pertaining to the nature and characteristics of the programme in the country today, as well as employment opportunities of graduates. The challenges that have been encountered along the way, as well as concerns that have been raised particularly in respect of issues around relevance and appropriateness of the curriculum, will then be examined. Finally, as it concludes, the chapter will reflect on the way forward, considering in the process, the curriculum review efforts currently under way.
