Abstract

Stochastic methods offer a certain robustness quality to the optimization process. In this paper, the Adaptive Simulated Annealing (ASA) searching techniques are applied to the shape optimization of an electromagnet. The magnetic field is computed using the 2D finite element code FEMM. The aim of optimization is the search for an optimal pole shape geometry leading to a homogeneous magnetic field distribution in the region of interest.nema
