The whole process described in this chapter was exploited on a practical level by developing and combining some urban analyses for a strategic infrastructural redevelopment area in Turin (Porta Nuova Station area). The Porta Nuova area was and still is a crucial infield project for Turin and it is in between two areas with very different needs and urban qualities. This chapter will assemble theoretical findings and empirical attempts which helped decision makers on the basis of “visible” rather than “discursive” design criteria. Turin Town Council has engaged a discussion with all the stakeholders in order to foresee common spatial development rules. Space syntax evaluations and analyses of functional diversity will be explored, combining the relations among spatial organization, social life and planning decisions in a single analytical tool supporting urban development issues.
