Abstract

The interhemispheric approach after frontal craniotomy is a fundamental technique in microneurosurgery. This approach is applied not only for anterior communicating artery aneurysms but also for frontal base tumor and parasellar lesions. In this article, we describe the fundamental techniques of the interhemispheric approach. In addition, we briefly review the history of the interhemispheric approach focusing on the achievements of Japanese neurosurgeons.
