Abstract

The wind whistles through the cracks in your call room window when the emergency department (ED) calls, and suddenly you find yourself in the maelstrom of that environment, speaking to a small group of extremely anxious strangers-having to explain that an immediate operation will be required to save their beloved one. The operating room (OR) is ready. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2010.
