Evaluation

Abstract

The evaluation represents an essential part in the overall assessment of each patient which will be essential for the diagnosis and consequently for the management. In a uveitis patient, this can be quite challenging, especially when comparing to other ophthalmic subspecialties, and that is due to the following points: (1) often uveitis can be associated with systemic disorders, which during the active uveitis may not be clinically manifest or, even more complicated, will become clinically detectable only after the onset of uveitis; (2) there is a multitude of etiologies known in uveitis, many of them often leading to the same anatomical type of uveitis, while in others the types can switch; and (3) the treatment always depends on the severity of the uveitis, anatomic location, existing complications, and the tolerance to the treatment.
